Mitosis plays an important role in the background of the cell cycle. During the
division process, the DNA of cell’s nucleus is equally separated in two sets of
chromosomes. Furthermore, research shows that a great majority of the cell
divisions occurring in the body is due to mitosis. Mitosis fills an organism’s
body with cells during growth and development, andduring the progression of an
organism’s life, it replaces longstanding, worn-out cells with new ones.
Mitosis goal is to verify each daughter cell gets an impeccable, full set of
chromosomes.Due to the lack or sometimes an overload of chromosomes, it is of
common occurrence that many cells conflict with each other’s functions. The
cells may not live, or they may cause cancer. When cells undergo mitosis, DNA
is not only divided by accident, but they separate their copied chromosomes in
a sensibly organized group of phases. Mitosis contains four basic phases which
are prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase. During early prophase, the
cell starts to break downa few structures and build others up, setting the
stage up for the division of the chromosomes. In the late prophase, the mitotic
spindle starts to capture and organize the chromosomes. For the duration of the
metaphase, the spindle captures all the chromosomes and line them up at the
middle of the cell, so they are equipped to divide.During the anaphase, the
sister chromatids separate from each other and are pulled towards opposite ends
of the cell. At the point of the telophase, the cell is nearly done dividing
and it starts to recreate its usual structures. Cytokinesis is the final part of
mitosis when the cytoplasm divides into two equal parts and the two new cells
have formed. Mitosis is important due to the fact this is how individuals grow
body parts, develop, repair damaged tissues, replace dead cells, and change at
a cellular level as they mature.
